Who is The Pen Wizard?
Well, that would be me. My name is Peter Twydle and the idea of 'The Pen Wizard' came from the frequency with which people send me pens for repair with the message 'Can you work your magic on this one?'
You may have arrived here from my main web site, The Highlo Pen Museum. On that site I offer for sale mint condition fountain pens, ball pens and pencils together with my other services.
These pages are a bit more lighthearted in tone and offer for sale vintage pens that I have personally restored to great working order in my workshop. Do you have a pen that needs repairing? Then click here to visit The Wizard's Workshop
The Wizard's Den
All the pens listed in The Wizard's Den are in excellent condition, unless otherwise stated, restored with original parts, boxed - in either a manufacturer's box or one of my own black, velvet-lined presentation boxes.
As an added bonus, all the nibs are adjusted to optimum flow, but I will further adjust them free-of-charge if you prefer them wetter or drier. I can't offer fairer than that now, can I?
The prices are pretty much par for the course, with the added advantages of the box and my personal, unconditional guarantee that each pen is in perfect working order. I also offer a three-month guarantee on the functioning of the pen, plus a full refund if you are in any way dissatisfied, or feel that it does not match my description.
I update this page once a week, so please e-mail me if you are interested in a pen, to make sure it is still available.
You may have read my heading on some of The Pen Museum pages 'Nobody ever regretted buying quality'. I would like to add to that with this mouthful:
'The sour taste of an inferior product lasts longer than the warm glow from a cheap price'.
With that in mind, here are the pens I currently have for sale
Conklin
|
Clipless £95 CONK-01 |
This black Conklin clipless lever-fill pen is in excellent condition. The finish is bright and shiny with only small marks to show its age. It has a fine gold nib with hardly any wear on the tip. |
Cross
| Classic
10ct
£70 WIZ-01 |
This original Cross Classic 10ct rolled gold fountain pen is in perfect working order and I have fitted it with a brand new filler unit. I have tested the 14ct gold nib and, although it is marked 'fine' actually writes more like a medium. |
Mabie Todd
|
Swan S.F. 2 £75 SWA-01 |
This Swan Self-Filler (lever) clipless pen c.1920 is in excellent condition, with oxidisation only just starting to show on the barrel. The No.2 size medium nib is wonderfully flexible, perfect for old-style copperplate handwrting.
|
| Swan
3612
£90 SWA-11 |
This Swan Eyedropper c.1907 is a very slim pen with an overfeed and shows no signs of oxidisation. The gold medium nib is very flexible. |
Montblanc
|
Montblanc £75 MON-03 |
T This Classic Montblanc fountain pen has never seen customer service but has been in The Pen Museum Collection for many years so it is in excellent condition. Convertible to cartridge and complete with its filler unit, it has a semi-flexible fine nib. |
Parker
| Duofold
International
£145 PWZ-02 |
This green marble Duofold International Mk II is so good it could be classed as near mint and placed on the Duofold page of The Pen Museum site, but it has been used (though you can hardly tell) so I have placed it here instead. It has a medium nib, converter unit and its original box, so it represents great value at this price. Collectors will also notice that it is one of the more desirable colours.
|
| Parker
180
£95 P180-04 |
This pen has a very small chip in the lacquer on the cap, but is in otherwise near mint condition. It has a medium nib, which can be reversed to write as an extra fine.
|
| Parker
51
£75 P51-01 |
This is an excellent example of a maroon Parker 51 aerometric with a lustraloy cap. Fully serviced and raring to go, the nib has a fine point. However, I have write-tested the nib and in my opinion it is on the broad side of fine, almost a medium.
|
| Parker
Duofold Pencil
£70 PWZ-01 |
This jade Parker Lady Duofold ring-top pencil c.1930 is in excellent condition and is complete with eraser and spare leads.
|
| Parker
45
£45 P45-01 |
This excellent black Parker 45 Deluxe with gold clip is complete with a squeeze converter and has a 14ct broad nib
|
| Parker
45
£45 P45-02 |
This excellent blue Parker 45 Deluxe with gold clip is complete with a squeeze converter and has a 14ct broad oblique nib. |
Sheaffer
| Targa
£85 PWZ-03 |
This diamond square gold plated Sheaffer Targa should really be classed as near mint because the cap and barrel are almost perfect and I have fitted a brand new medium oblique nib. But I'm feeling generous today, so here is the chance to grab a bargain.
|
| Sentinel
de Luxe Snorkel
£100 SHE-08 |
This Sheaffer Sentinel de Luxe Snorkel made in the U.S.A. c.1952 and in this rare salmon colour, has actually never been used, but has languished in a drawer for over 50 years and consequently seized up. I have replaced the gaskets and lubricated everything and it is now in perfect working order. The rigid, extra fine two-tone nib is perfect for fine figure work. The cap has fine scuff marks on it, which is why I am only classifying it as 'excellent' rather than 'near mint'. I have included an old, original Sheaffer box, which is slightly tatty, but you can, if you prefer, have a new, neutral presentation box. Just ask.
|
| Sentinel
Snorkel
£80 SHE-09 |
I have fully serviced this pastel blue Sheaffer Sentinel, replacing the sac and gaskets. The medium nib shows no signs of use.
|
Waterman
|
Man 200
£105 WAT-07 |
Although the nib on this brown M200 is marked as fine oblique, the angle looks very shallow. I have tested it and it writes generously, and more like a medium oblique.
|
|
Eyedropper £90 WAT-02 |
This very slim Waterman Eyedropper pen from around 1905 is showing hardly any signs of oxidization. The find point nib is wonderfully flexible.
|
| Sleeve
Filler
£75 WAT-06 |
This Waterman sleeve-filler is only just starting to show signs of oxidisation. The gold nib produces a thick and thin italic writing line. |
I
have in my workshop what is probably the largest collection of spare parts for pens, pencils,
rollerballs and ballpoints anywhere in the
world, particularly for post-war pens in which I specialise, but please keep in mind that I am not
infallible (not all spells work). Some repairs may need parts which, despite my extensive stocks, I simply do not have. In these cases I can often refer you to another restorer
who specialises. Peter Twydle, Highlo, Greenacre Park, HORNSEA, HU18 1UW, England
